An artificially intelligent robotic android will need a little knowledge in order to become a viable part of a human grouping, whether that grouping is a family unit, team or even a catering company or a car wash if it will be working along side other humans. This is because humans need a baseline of knowledge in order to be accepted by a group and thus able to discuss relative information or knowledge with one another. Indeed it also helps humans as they further explain a thought to put it into some sort of context.

Now then to program a computer or artificially intelligent android to work well around other humans it will need also a baseline of knowledge, too much knowledge could actually displace the robot in their human grouping and thus make it un-welcomed, outcaste or perhaps disliked. Human groups tend to do this, whether this is a good trait or not is quite irrelevant as it is merely a fact of basic human interaction in groups. Thus we need to address this.

So rather than taking the Bill Gate’s approach and reading the entire encyclopedia as a child or programming into a artificially intelligent robotic android the entire set of Encarta on five CD ROMs or attempting to download all the pages of the Wikipedia Website, I propose that we take an over all approach with some dates and facts interspersed.

So, I move we take Bill Bryson’s book “A Brief History of Everything” and program that into the robotic android, along with some basic dates that many humans know, such as the signing date of the Declaration of Independence, 1492 Columbus sailed the seas of Blue and the war of 1812; your basic stuff, not enough for the android to be a total smarty pants, but enough to hold its own under your basic organic human unit in the social grouping. Please consider this in 2006.

The United States military has known since the days of General Patton that fuel is paramount to fighting a war. Without the fuel your logistical supply chain is at a standstill and in the new battlespace at risk of detection and instant annihilation. It is for this reason the Military is looking into the future to come up with new ways to power our hardware and future fighting force. This subject recently came up in an online think tank when one member stated;

“The Military Plans Tests in Search for an Alternative to Oil-Based Fuel; Maybe another alternative, for the wind powered generators with the wind speed of about 300 mph their should be enough to create enough pressure to drive the generator to run a electric turbo engine, it would help reduce the fuel consumption for the military.”

I believe if I were looking at futuristic ways to propel vehicles that I would indeed consider military vehicles made of Titanium Dioxide Super Coatings which would be charged to take the ambient air between sheets of the coating or skin and use the low pressure between to create precipitation and then split the H20 and use the hydrogen to run a fuel cell on board instead of fossil fuel and then simply release the oxygen into the atmosphere or use it for another military purpose? Consider this in 2006.

A huge attention span is the hallmark of genius.

The biographies of men like Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla reveal that they were so fascinated by their experiments that they worked almost all day and all night in a state of fascinated excitement.

Conversely, a short attention span is a sign of stupidity.

Our world will never again see the essays of men like Henry David Thoreau, rich in metaphor, similes, and cascading rivers of prose.

It is moving too fast, and its events are being communicated to our bedazzled brain in sound bites and media blitz.

The internet itself, when it comes to the subject of literacy, is a huge paradox.

On one hand, the pace of technology causes the user to quickly grow weary of slow dial-ups and slow loading web pages, our nervous systems responding to 5 to 10 second pauses with the impatience of drivers stuck behind a red light.

On the other hand, the plethora of information, running to billions of web pages, with each search word literally offering a million or more possibilities on a search engine, is staggering.

The word “Henry David Thoreau,” on Yahoo Search Engine for example yields 1,900,000 results.

Unfortunately, those of us who habitually dabble in this new frontier are becoming increasingly less likely to develop solid study skills, which involves developing a large enough attention span to process, comprehend, and implement ideas.

Our hard drives are filled with e-books not read, software files not opened, and digital projects not completed.

Unfortunately, these habits of subject illiteracy are not confined only to this new media of global communication, but spills over to all other aspects of our livesfrom channel surfing to grocery shopping, from responding to the question of a friend to designing a new business plan.

Quick is in, and slow is out. Brief is hot, and long is the kiss of death.

The person with the fastest pitch wins the sale.

The faster you move, the more you can get done.

While all this may have its merits, the human brain, the three pounds of spongy mass, which has more circuits than the most sophisticated telephone exchange in the world, is becoming increasingly less efficient.

Our eyes need time to scan and our ears to hear and our brain to sort out the true from the untrue, fact from fiction, and to draw elaborate models of how things are put together and work in harmony.

Sometimes when reading a novel from another century, like Victor Hugo or Honor de Balzak, for example, where the characters move slowly and ponderously through the plots, feeling deeply the movements of their destiny, in touch with the depths of moral and philosophical complexities, it seems we are evolving to become a different speciesa dazzled and bewildered one, where superficiality is the norm, rather than the exception, and where we are almost completely losing touch with what it means to be human.

Currently there is a real problem with plastic water bottles, the litter and pollution they create. Many medical professionals are quite concerned that they can cause health issues if you drink your water out of them. It is a quite heated debate on both sides, but few can deny the problems they create in the environment. Currently plastic water bottles are made of very thin plastic which decays faster, but the UV light also causing them to decay before you drink them causing health issues as it enters the water itself, which you will soon be drinking.

These water bottles are also found to be filling up our landfills unnecessarily and also causing issues, as they become trash in parks, the beaches and athletic fields. Some teachers have fund ways to teach and use empty water bottles as materials for projects in the classroom. Recently in a press release a company named; BIOTA Spring Water came out with the World’s First Bottled Water or Beverage Packaged in a Bottle that is Made from 100% Renewable Resource, Corn not Oil. This means that it is bio-degradable and will decompose quickly.

Since it is made of corn, animals will eat these bottles and birds too. So I propose that we put Bird Flu vaccine into the bottles during manufacturing protecting our local and regional birds from traveling migrating birds, which might have bird flu in a strain that is dangerous to humans, such as the N5H1. The birds will eat the bottles, thus no pollution or litter and they will be safe and so will we? Think on this idea?

Can we figure out experiments to use to see if we can disrupt bees with sound? Can we affect their flight path, control them or even defeat a swarm of bees? Can we do experiments to see if this is possible? What if we put them into a church and turn up the pipe organ music, would then become angelical? Find god, go back and prey to their Queen Bee? Sure, that was a joke, but how does loud sound or specific sound waves affect bees?

Another experiment is to put a car with a huge set of speakers under a bee hive and turn it on when the bees fly away if they have a trouble then you win. You could put four surround a round speakers next to a bee hive where the bees have to fly thru to go to the favorite bushes each day and turn them on, there would be enough sound to disrupt with directional sound because each speaker put out sound and increases pressure in the center. Kind of like the firestorm with the Germans in WWII where a whole city was annihilated. Or like when a kid put pressure on their face to pop a zit.

Of course if you are going to try such experiments to disrupt bees, I just do not advice you standing around while you piss off a swarm of killer bees. Rather hazardous to your human health wouldn’t you say? Consider all this in 2006.

Artificial Intelligence software has certainly come a long way and it is improving all the time. As we finally watched Big Blue beat a human master chess player, one can only imagine the ability of future artificial intelligent software, its complexity and issues with trust. Will humans accept orders from an artificial intelligent computer program? Will war fighters be willing to follow the orders of a Computer General using such decision matrix software to send the “blue force” into battle. Will Commanders using such software in the future battlespace with his or her future fighting force trust the answers, which come back from queries of logistics and tactics? Will they be willing to risk lives on those decisions?

Will the complexity or lack of in the decisions, which are made cause an incremental increase in trust between human and computer? If the average intellectually endowed human mind can make decisions relatively easy up to 13 actions of criteria, as the human mind seems to do fine up until that number, will human commanders choose their own minds over the answers coming from a computer? Will the Human Being check their hunches against the decision matrix calculator?

Will the human enabled commander with such a system perform and work with the artificial intelligent system to compliment his or her ability or inherently move to compete against it? If the system is readily used to make simple decisions will it be respected? If the decision is too complicated will it be not understood and called into question? Currently humans trust their calculators, computers, watches and GPS systems; will the artificial intelligent decision matrix computers go thru a similar and very short process in their implementation? Think on this.
